Eilenriede – Europe’s largest urban forest

Europe’s largest urban forest – Hanover’s Eilenriede

About two kilometres from the city centre lies Europe’s largest urban forest, the Eilenriede. This 642-hectare green space in the middle of Hannover is a popular destination for tourists and residents alike. The area, which is almost twice the size of Central Park, establishes Hannover as a green metropolis and is a real eye-catcher. The Eilenriede offers many opportunities for sporting activities such as cycling and walking. There are various cycle and walking paths, seating areas and lawns to explore. Hundreds of benches, ponds, dog parks, forest restaurants and adventure playgrounds attract many tourists to the provincial capital. After an active day in the Eilenriede, a cool, refreshing drink can work wonders. Here at Café Centrale you will find everything you need after an action-packed day out. End the day with a delicious meal and a good drink at Central-Hotel Kaiserhof. Let us spoil you and enjoy the evening in a cosy atmosphere.

This is the best way to reach your destination.

The quickest and easiest way is to take tram no. 3, 7 or 9 to the beautiful Lister Platz right next to the Stadtwald. You can also drive to Eilenriede, but make sure you have enough time and patience to find a parking space. It is definitely worth it.
